Watershed Conditions Statement – Water Safety
The Grand River watershed continues to recover following recent rainfall and snow melt events over the past few weeks.
As a result, rivers and streams throughout the watershed are flowing much faster and higher than normal for this time of year. Gauging stations in and around our watershed showed over 90mm of precipitation in the form of rain, sleet, and snow fell during the winter storm that occurred Thursday April 12th to Monday April 16th.
Watercourses in the watershed have peaked and are currently slowly receding with no significant precipitation expected within the next few days. Stream and river levels remain higher than normal and as a result, are dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts, bridges, and dams. Children...
