Accessibility in Ontario 

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) is intended to reduce and remove barriers for people with disabilities so that Ontario can become more accessible and inclusive for everyone. Collaboration among businesses, organizations, communities and all levels of government is key to reaching this goal.

A Provincial Guide: Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation

Accessibility standards have been created as part of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.  These standards are rules that businesses and organizations in Ontario need to follow to identify, remove and prevent barriers so that people with disabilities have more opportunities to participate in everyday life.

The Township of East Garafraxa works with the County of Dufferin for all matters of accessibility.

Commitment to Accessibility

The Township's goal is to ensure accessibility for our employees and the public we serve in our services, products and facilities. Employees need to be able to function effectively and customers need to receive timely, high quality services in a way that works for them.

Annual Status Report 

In accordance with Ontario Regulation 191/11, Integrated Accessibility Standards under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA), municipalities are required to prepare an Annual Accessibility Status Report. This report outlines the progress made each year in implementing the initiatives and actions identified in the municipality’s Multi-Year Accessibility Plan. As per Section 4(3) of the regulation, the report must be posted on the municipality’s website and made available in an accessible format upon request.
