Here you will find some of our most requested forms, grouped by Department. Fees and Deposits noted on Application Forms, Licences and Permits are subject to change. Please refer to the By-Law Section of our website for relevant fees, where applicable.

Address Change

Please complete and submit the Address Change Form if you are changing your mailing address. Please note that the Township is unable to process address changes over the telephone.

Complaints

Complaint Form

For complaints, please submit in writing either in print or email to info@eastgarafraxa.ca, including full name, address, phone number and nature of complaint. The Township will determine if the complaint is related to By-Law Enforcement. 

The Township shall only respond to a complaint received in writing. Anonymous and/or incomplete complaints shall not be investigated. A complaint in writing shall include all of the following information:

  1. Full name
  2. Address
  3. Phone number
  4. Details regarding the By-Law contravention, including place and/or time, as well as any other details that may be necessary to permit the Township to investigate.

Dog Licences
All Dog Licences and Kennel Licenses are issued from the Township Office. We request that you complete the Dog License Application Form and return it with proof of spay/neuter with the appropriate fee according to By-Law 2-95, as amended. If you have tenants on your property who have dogs, please make them aware of the fee schedule.

Fire Permit Application

Fire Permit Application 

Please note that previous years’ (2020, 2021 and 2022) valid fire permits will NOT be extended for the year 2023. Therefore, residents will be required to obtain a new fire permit for the year 2023.

Fire permits are available at no charge and can be obtained electronically via email/fax, by regular mail, or in-person at the Township administration office. Fire permits are only valid once reviewed and signed by a Township Official.

Please note fire permits are not transferable and are intended for use by the person and for the property location listed on the permit.

All burning within the Township shall be in compliance with By-Law 07-2009, being a by-law to regulate the setting of fires, prevent the spreading of fires and to establish a fire permit system.

Marsville Hall Rental
Marsville Community Hall Facility Booking Form. 

Location:  191282 13th Line, East Garafraxa

Capacity: Maximum of 75 people

Details:  No Kitchen, no potable water, approximately 10 tables (8' x 2') with plenty of seating, bar area available.

Resident Fees:  Hall Rental $75.00 + HST, Deposit of $100.00 Required

Non-Resident Fees:  Hall Rental $125.00 + HST, Deposit of $200.00 Required

Municipal Freedom of Information Request
Municipal Freedom of Information Request Form under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act/ Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.  

Please note that a $5.00 application fee (or as required by the Province) is required for all requests.  Please forward FOI Requests to the Township Clerk.

Tax Certificates
The Fee for a Tax Certificate is $40.00 Payable to the Township of East Garafraxa.   Request must be made in writing and submitted along with the payment to the Township Office.
Zoning Compliance
The Fee for a Zoning Compliance Report is $75.00.  Payable to the Township of East Garafraxa.  Request must be made in writing and submitted along with the payment to the Township Office.

Building Permit Application (to construct or demolish)

All building permit applications for the Township are processed online through the CityView Portal. Review of applications are conducted by the Township and the County of Dufferin Building Services Department.

Please note Township Municipal Approval is required for all development even when a Building Permit is not required by the County of Dufferin Building Department under the Building Code.

Hurricane Clip Rebate Program (Dufferin County)

Hurricane Clip Rebate Program (County of Dufferin)

In partnership with the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction, Dufferin County is offering a rebate incentive to property owners or builders in Amaranth, East Garafraxa, Grand Valley, Melancthon, Mono, Mulmur, and Shelburne who install hurricane clips during construction on all new buildings, additions, or renovations.

Mandatory Pre-Application Consultation

In accordance with the Planning Act and pursuant to Township of East Garafraxa By-law 35-2022 and the Township Official Plan, as amended, owner(s)/applicant are required to consult with the Township prior to the submission of development applications, such as:

  • Official Plan Amendment
  • Zoning By-law Amendment
  • Temporary Use By-Law
  • Holding Zone Removal
  • Draft Plan of Subdivision
  • Draft Plan of Condominium
  • Consent (Severance)
  • Site Plan Approval
  • Site Plan Amendment(s)
  • Minor Variance

No development applications submitted to the Township of East Garafraxa for approval under the Planning Act, shall be deemed complete or accepted for processing, until at least one pre-application consultation meeting has occurred between the proponent and Township staff.  Pre-application consultation is mandatory in respect of all development applications under the Planning Act.

Entrance Permit Application

An Entrance Permit is required under the following circumstances on the Township of East Garafraxa roads:

  • Construction of a new entrance
  • Changing the design/size of an existing entrance
  • Changing the location of an existing entrance
  • Changing the use of an existing entrance (i.e. the classification)
  • Construction of a temporary entrance
  • Paving of an existing entrance

Fees:  $100.00 Non-Refundable Fee and $600.00 Deposit

Entrances are subject to final inspection and approval.  Please contact the Public Works department to request a final inspection once entrance is complete.  Upon satisfactory inspection of the entrance, the $600.00 deposit shall be refunded. 

If the entrance is found to be unsatisfactory, the deposit shall be held until corrected. In the event that the Township of East Garafraxa is required to repair the entrance, costs shall be deducted from the deposit and any remaining funds shall be returned. If the costs incurred by the Township exceed the deposit received, the balance shall be deemed to be due and payable to the Township.

**Please note that if you reside on a County of Dufferin Road within the Township of East Garafraxa you will have to apply for an Entrance Permit from County of Dufferin.  For the County's application process please click here for further information.  

Nuisance Beaver Program (Dufferin County)
Dufferin County operates a Nuisance Beaver Program during the off season for beaver trapping. 

This program runs from May 1st through October 24th annually and is carried out with the permission of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. It is designed to protect municipal drains, culverts, and roads from damage caused by nuisance beavers.

Road Occupancy Permit

A Road Occupancy permit is required whenever there is any type of work or activity on a Township Road or Road Right of Way which will interrupt normal traffic flow, cause safety concerns, and/or change existing conditions including:

  • Construction on private property in which the right-of-way is used for staging equipment
  • Construction on private property in which large equipment is accessing property
  • Private events not fully contained on private property
  • Installation of new entrances and/or entrance upgrades
  • Parades
  • Filming
  • Athletic events (marathons, cycling, etc.)
  • Utilities repair/installation

This ensures that the Township can:

  • Determine conflicts with other activities
  • Ensure that road conditions are adequate for the type of activity
  • Review safety related concerns and issues
  • Monitor cleanup, damages, etc.
  • Inspect restoration work

The fee for a Road Occupancy Permit is $750.00, please refer to By-Law 4-2011- Tariff of Fees for Municipal Cost Recovery for more information including deposit amounts.

The Township requires a completed application accompanied by a certificate of insurance naming the Township of East Garafraxa as an additional insured.
